I’ve been working on a new map of Wibblewood in my spare time. I wanted to make one with more detail and color:
-This won’t necessarily match bird’s-eye-view panels in the comic, because the woods are covered in so much snow in this story. Some features are covered, and when the characters were shoveling, they missed some of the trails and took wrong turns.
-I added some features that aren’t coming into the current story’s orbit. I did this for a few reasons: 1. to help readers imagine where background characters might live and what they might be up to when they’re offstage; 2. to give myself prompts so I won’t default to drawing generic backgrounds; and 3. Because I have plans for future stories that go deeper into Wibblewood.
-I may end up adding more stuff in the future.
Here are some teaser images of my 4-page story, featuring characters created by Isaac Cates, Mike Wenthe, and Tom Motley. You can order a subscription at Cartozia.com
